The Octopus Armoire

The Octopus Armoire consists of a set of four drawers and an upper cabinet with interior shelves. An octopus lives in the upper cabinet. This piece was great fun to design and create. I love watching my son play baseball. Preliminary drawing were made in a notebook while watching his practices.

Playing with 4:3 ratios enabled the offset feature. The armoire was design to go next to a couch. The offset upper cabinet leaves space for items that one might use while sitting on the couch-perhaps a book, reading glasses and a cup of tea.

The octopus was painted from a photograph of a famous octopus named Rambo. Rambo lives at an aquarium in New Zealand. She has a waterproof camera in her tank and takes photos of aquarium visitors.
